The sensitive information supposedly included names, dates of birth, Aadhaar IDs (a unique identification number for Indian citizens), physical addresses, and International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) numbers.
Airtel, however, maintains a stance of complete denial. A company spokesperson issued a firm statement refuting the claims, asserting, “There has been absolutely no data breach at our end. A thorough investigation of the alleged data reveals glaring inaccuracies, and a significant portion demonstrably does not belong to Airtel customers in the first place. We have already informed the relevant authorities about this matter.” The legitimacy of a video posted by Rajaharia, which purportedly shows communication between Airtel’s security team and Red Rabbit Team regarding the data, remains unverified.
