Samsung India has witnessed an overwhelming response to its newly launched foldable smartphone series—Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and the Galaxy Flip7 FE. Within just 48 hours of the official launch, the tech giant received a staggering 2.1 lakh pre-orders, marking one of the most successful foldable phone debuts in the Indian market.
The demand surge has matched the early pre-order numbers of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S25 series, signaling a strong and growing appetite for premium and innovative smartphones in the country. The new Galaxy Z series is priced between ₹89,000 and ₹2.11 lakh, firmly placing it in the premium segment.
Samsung officially launched the devices on July 22, 2025, in India after unveiling them at the Galaxy Unpacked global event earlier in July. According to industry analysts and Samsung’s internal data, a majority of the early buyers are young tech enthusiasts and professionals under the age of 35, showcasing the rising adoption of foldables among India’s youth population.
Features and Pricing:
The Galaxy Z Fold7 comes with a 7.9-inch inner display and 6.3-inch cover screen, equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, improved hinge durability, and a triple camera setup. The Galaxy Z Flip7, popular for its compact clamshell design, features a 3.9-inch cover display, making it more practical for one-handed use. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Flip7 FE offers many of the same features at a more affordable price point, targeting users who want a foldable experience without stretching their budget to flagship levels.
The Z Flip7 starts at ₹89,000, while the Z Fold7 is priced around ₹2.11 lakh. The Flip7 FE starts from ₹79,999 but was part of limited early-bird offers during the launch window.
Consumer Trends and Market Insights:
Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India, stated, “The foldable category is becoming mainstream, and India is at the heart of this transformation. We are thrilled to see such a massive response from Indian consumers. This proves the trust they have in Samsung’s innovation and quality.”
Industry experts say Samsung’s aggressive marketing, EMI options, cashback offers, and pre-booking benefits, including free accessories and upgrade bonuses, have further fueled demand. Samsung is also offering free screen replacement (1 year), and accidental damage protection as part of the pre-booking benefits.
Counterpoint Research notes that India is among the top five global markets in terms of foldable smartphone growth, with Samsung commanding over 75% of the market share in the segment. This launch could help the company strengthen its position further.
Future Outlook:
With such strong early traction, Samsung is now aiming to ramp up production and logistics to fulfill pre-orders ahead of the devices’ official delivery date in early August. Retailers have reported increased foot traffic and showroom interest across major metros such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
As premium smartphones continue to find growing demand in India, especially in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, Samsung’s focus on foldable innovation might just be the game-changer it needs to retain leadership in the high-end market.
